ENLY BRINGS CANDLES, COFFEE, AND STYLE TO THE NOLITA NEIGHBORHOOD

The Nordic inspired coffee shop will be the first brick-and-mortar location of the brand.

Model and entrepreneur Enly Tammela is taking her business from online to IRL with her coffee and candle shop hybrid ENLY. What originally launched as an online effort is now manifesting itself in New York’s Nolita neighborhood on May 24th, 2022.

Located at 227 Mott St., the 350 square foot shop will focus on providing premium quality products in a beautifully designed space by architect Henry Lucien Barrett, a member of design collective New Body. ENLY will be serving an assortment of espresso, matcha and herbal tea drinks in custom ceramic cups handmade in New York. 

ENLY has partnered with Devocion whose coffee they carry exclusively. Caroline Güntert, food and beverage director at ENLY, has said that she has always yearned to create a coffee program worthy of her mentors and Swiss heritage. Some of the highlights include shaken Best Quemado and Espresso Tonic infused with florals and smudged with the aroma of Palo Santo. as well as their signature small bites like Estonian Black Rye Bread Avocado toast baked by Enly’s Estonian friend right here in New York City and Eleven Madison Park granola that is served with coconut yogurt and a drizzle of honey. 

The retail portion will feature ENLY’s one-of-a-kind, hand poured candles with natural soy and coconut wax, non toxic fragrances, and natural crackling wooden wicks. There are two sizes to choose from- 13oz candles ($75) and custom hand-blown candles that hold 4 pounds of wax ($490). All ENLY candles are hand poured in NYC by Enly herself, made in small batches and have clean, eco-friendly burn time of about 95 hours for the 13oz candles and about 200 hours for the custom large candles.  

The candle vessels for the custom candles are hand blown in New York by an extremely talented artist William Couig. Each one of these candles is a statement piece in any home, moreover, the vessels can be refilled at the store or just used as a decorative element/vase etc. after the candle has burnt.

The store has a workshop within it so customers can be part of candle making either by just observing or by booking a private session with Enly to really get their hands on and make candles with her.

ENLY’s candle scents available will include:

“When I started ENLY the goal was to pay close attention to the ingredients I was using in the candles. My obsessive focus on quality led me to utilize high-end ingredients that were not only good smelling, but without harmful ingredients. Opening a coffee shop has been my long-lasting dream and it felt that it was now or never. So, I just took a leap of faith and thought to myself: “I’ll figure it out”.  I have always enjoyed hosting and cooking for friends. I love giving and making people smile and feel appreciated. I think we simply need more kindness in this world. Enly is a place where me and my team will do our best to make everyone’s day better.  I want Enly to be more than a coffee and candle store, I want it to be a warm feeling. My mom has always said to me that I’ve been a dreamer my whole life, always head in the clouds, but quite honestly, I do believe that because of that I am where I am doing what I love.” – Enly Tammela
