"Inspire" is all about finding joy.

Yankee Candle's fourth annual Scent of the Year is all about finding joy. Dubbed "Inspire," the scent is a celebration of the Japanese philosophy of Ikigi, which roughly translates to "a reason for being." With top notes of Rainforest Lime, Ginger, and Verbena; mid notes of Bamboo, Freesia, and Ocean Breeze Accord; and base notes of Cedar, Seaside Driftwood, and Sun Musks, the new scent is as refreshing as it is calming.

"When developing this year's fragrance, we really focused on what people are seeking in 2022 and leaned into a scent that celebrates the small moments of joy that can be found in our everyday lives," said Lisa McCarthy, President of the Home Fragrance Business Unit, Newell Brands. "Ikigai's ten rules of happiness, which include 'reconnect with nature,' helped inspire this bright and energizing, uplifting and radiant fragrance, reflective of what we are all craving right now."

Inspire is available in the signature large candle size, but with some exciting updates. The jar is wrapped in a lovely polka-dot pattern that creates "a really gorgeous luminary effect when lit," as Yankee Candle fragrance expert Taylor Perlis tells House Beautiful. Plus, the jar doubles as a beautiful storage container once the candle finishes its 60 to 100 hours of burn time. And to make sure no part of the candle goes to waste, the brushed tin lid doubles as a coaster!

Inspire builds upon Yankee Candle's existing Sakura Blossom Festival Collection, which is influenced by Japanese culture and the traditional Sakura Blossom Festival. Other fragrances in the collection include Mango Ice Cream, inspired by the traditional Japanese treat, and Majestic Mount Fuji, an ode to the iconic landmark.

Yankee Candle Rewards members can score the new scent starting March 16. Inspire will be widely available for purchase on March 21, which just so happens to be National Fragrance Day!
