Anthropologie has issued a recall of more than 20,000 Anecdote autumn glass candles that were sold in its stores and online beginning in July 2021.

"Anthropologie has received nine reports of the candles flaming up, cracking or breaking apart while in use, resulting in minor property damage," according to a recall notice posted Wednesday on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

No injuries have been reported but the double wick candles "can achieve higher than usual flames, causing the glass container to break apart, posing fire and laceration hazards," the notice said.

According to the recall, about 19,380 were sold in the U.S. in addition to about 623 in Canada.

The candles were sold in Anthropologie stores nationwide and online at www.anthropologie.com from July 2021 through December 2021 for about $32.

The candle scents are "Fireside Chats" which comes in a blue container, "Weekend Getaway" in green, "Sweater Weather" in pink and "Fall Feels" in orange.

The candle’s scent and “Anecdote Candles for Anthropologie” are printed on a label on the side of the glass candle container.

An SKU number is located on the price label on the bottom of the candles and the affected SKU numbers are: 0063344923, 0063344980, 0063344964 and 0063344949.

The candle size is 13.5 ounces and it is 3.25 inches high with a diameter of 4.25 inches.

Consumers should immediately stop using the candle and return it to an Anthropologie store, according to the recall notice.

If the candle cannot be returned in-store, consumers can go to www.anthropologie.com/recall for instructions on how to cut the candle wicks and dispose of the product, provide verification of this to Anthropologie, and receive a full refund.

Anthropologie is also contacting all known purchasers directly, according to the recall notice.

Customers with questions can email recall@urbn.com or call 800-309-2500.
